About the Artist
Caleigh Bird, born in Toronto in 1984 and raised in historic Charleston, SC, was nurtured by her family’s unwavering support for her artistic pursuits from a young age. Engaging in various artistic activities since infancy, she delved deeply into traditional figurative techniques and regularly sketched live models in her early teenage years, aiming to capture the innate artistic essence of her subjects. Today, Caleigh crafts three-dimensional figurative oil paintings using resin and natural found objects acquired during her travels.
After obtaining her Bachelor’s Degree in Studio Art from the College Of Charleston, she pursued a Master’s Degree in Studio Art at USC in Columbia, SC, while immersing herself in numerous art history courses. Caleigh enriched her artistic journey by participating in two atelier programs at the Istituto Michelangelo in Florence, Italy, and Studio Escalier in Argenton-Chateau, France. Her life has been sprinkled with international and cross-country adventures.
